For 30 years, Community Futures has been supporting small business development and rural economic diversification in Alberta. Community Futures are community driven, non-profit organizations with 27 offices in rural areas throughout Alberta. Each office is staffed by local business professionals who are guided by a volunteer Board of Directors.
Community Futures Centre West has invested the past five years building the SMARTstart program with community partners. We have seen the benefit of early business training and want to share that with other communities. Canadian studies show that only 35% of new businesses survive their first five years.
